Privacy Policy
A 'Privacy Policy' sounds like a load of legal mumbo jumbo, but since NUGC does collect your information, it is important to have one to reassure you that we aren't going to do anything bad with it. This policy covers not only the activity on this website, but the information we collect from members as part of joining the club, and the day to day running of the club.
Membership
NUGC is a club that is run 'by the members, for the members' - we don't have any other priorities other than to have fun, and to share that fun with anyone who wants to join in. Any information we collect is purely to help us with administration & the running of the club. The Students' Union requires us to collect certain information, and the RAF sometimes requires information from visitors to the airfield as well. To that end, we collect information from you when you join the club such as your name, address, email address and phone number. This information is purely for our records, and we don't keep any of it when you leave the club. None of the information is passed on to any other party, except for the Students' Union and the RAF when required, as mentioned above. As far as we know, neither of those pass your information on anywhere else, and it is only used for administration.
NUGC keep a members' database on a secure area of the website, only accessible to relevant people, such as the committee. When you leave the club, your record in the database is permanently deleted.
All members joining the club, as well as anyone who reqests it, are put onto our mailing list. This list is used for organising club activities and socials. Only trusted members can post to the list, which ensures that all the email you recieve from it is relevant to the clubs activities, and nothing else. Anyone can unsubscribe from the list at any time by following the instructions at the bottom of each email, and at the end of each year, the list is cleared ready for the new membership. You will be given the option to resubscribe to the list if you still want to be 'in the loop' on club activities.
Website
The NUGC website allows you to register as a user, which enables additional benefits such as commenting on photos, uploading new photos to the gallery, email notifications for events and having a user profile on the website. The information is kept secure and is only accessible to the committee and trusted members. It is not passed on to any third parties. Your password is encrypted in the database and cannot be read by anyone. The login page has a 'remember me' function, which stores a couple of cookies on your computer. Neither of these cookies have any personally identifiable information in them.
