Portmoak

Every Easter we run an exciting gliding expedition to Portmoak, Scotland. The main purpose of the trip is to of course fly, but its much more than that!

Portmoak is located about 35 minutes north of Edinburgh and is famous for fantastic ridge and wave flying as well as having some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Every year is slightly different, however we aim to take approximately 15 to 20 students for the 10 day trip. The transport there and accommodation is all arranged and included in the trip price of approximately £250!

We stay in roomy, warm cottages in the Scottish hills. Each cottage has a kitchen, living room, dinning room and wash facilities. The evenings are always very social, we often play games and sometimes socialise with other universities who tend to visit Portmoak at a similar time to us.

The trip normally runs over the first week of the Easter holidays, so you can’t use it as an excuse to miss lectures! Besides all the gliding, we often take the time out to do other things such as visit Edinburgh, climb a mountain, go GoKarting, or explore the rest of Scotland.

The trip is a great opportunity to really consolidate you flying, whether you’re pre-solo or post-solo, you will benefit massively from experiencing a different airfield.

If you think you would like to take part in this amazing trip, keep an eye on our social media pages around December/January time for posts advertising it.
