Summer 2005...
Added on Thu 1st Sep 2005
Well it's been a while without any updates, but we are back from the summer's competitions and ready for freshers fayre 2005!
In July we went up to Sutton Bank for 2005's Inter University competition. We managed an impressive set of achievments this year, with Vicki resoloing after her year abroad, and getting back into the Astir as well. Nick Selby went aerotow solo, as did Neil Walmsley and James Fowkes. Neil and James then proceeded to get a bronze leg each, Neil converting to SUGC's K8 in the process. A few people went on some soaring flights in R1, the Duo Discus, and in DS2, Sutton Bank's DG1000. I managed to convert to the Discus while we were there, and attempted my 2 hour flight, but fell short when the day died.
After also doing quite well in the trailer reversing competition organised during the week, and with a few cross countries from some people, we ended up coming 2nd overall, after Edinburgh. A good effort by everyone!
The last week of August saw the national juniors at Bicester, with Andy flying NU for the week. Unfortunatley, a logger failure on the last day meant he didnt quite match last year's 12th position, but a good effort anyway.
Finally, last weekend saw Graeme and Nick both resolo, and both get into their first single seater, the K18. Graeme also managed a bronze leg in the process, and much money was put behind the bar that night! The smile can still be seen on Graeme's face...
Fresher's fayre is in a couple of weeks, so don't forget to rejoin if you enjoyed it all last year, and bring along some friends :)
