Ontur - Fun In The Sun

Added on Thu 1st Jul 2004

by Pete Ballard

The first annual NUGC expedition to Ontur, southern Spain, was a great success. Seven of our members ventured out to visit the European Soaring Club, and take advantage of 10 knot thermals to 11,000'. With conditions like that its not surprising that Fraser Harland managed to do his 5 hours and 50km silver distance before getting rained on and plonking his Astir in a field. Rachel Hine completed her gold by doing her first 300km flight around the stunning spanish countryside, Pete Ballard tried to do the same but bottled out when his GPS died, proving once again that he's just too stupid. Tom Newham and Andy Langton flew some good cross countries, whilst Simon Taylor managed to throw up again, this time in the company of Little Dave.

Good fun was had by all.
